Cafe Milano

Today's The Meal Plan, one of The Daily Californian's food-related articles, always makes me want to try the places the writer mentions. I tried going to The Musical Offering Cafe because he said they have good GAW salads (this is a term he made up--GAW = garbonzo beans, apples, and walnuts). I love sweet-and-salty foods, so of course I love fruits and nuts and beans in my salads (I LOVE Claim Jumper's Asian pear salad)...and of course I wanted to try The Musical Offering's GAW salad. Unfortunately, I was too afraid to go in because it was all fancy-shmancy-looking, and I was under-dressed and alone.

So I went to Milano instead and had their Italian salad with raspberry dressing. SO GOOD. And HUMONGOUS. I think that it was worth the $6.00 (even) when you consider what they give you (and how much of it). They give you generous portions of fresh mozzarella, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, and garbonzo beans (I had to have garbonzo beans today--I just had to), and their roasted red and green peppers were delicious. My only complaint was that there was only ONE piece of artichoke, which was supposed to be one of the main ingredients. I also wish I had gotten the salad another time right before going home or something...because I couldn't finish it all and I ended up wasting precious food. Oh--and it comes with a piece of fluffy white bread.

Part of me wants to be a food columnist. Wouldn't that be fun? And then I'd have another excuse to go food exploring/experimenting. If only had more time. I would do a lot of things with more time. Anyways....
